Count Skylarkin stumbled into DJing in the late 90’s after his mixtapes proved a hit with customers at a South London cafe. Dj, Sound System Operator and Promoter from Nottingham that as been pushing the dub, roots sound for many years. You can find Earthpipe in residence with his Sweet Potato Sound System and Leeds West Indian Centre at the the  infamous  Subdub and Exodus events.

This summer has seen or will see him playing at Glasto (BBC stage), Wireless Festival Leeds, BeatHerder, Big Chill, D Percussion, Notting Hill and Ibiza! His 50 minute set on 1XTRA’s Home-grown Talent show, 80 through to 180 BPM), was received as one of the most innovative and exciting set by other 1XTRA DJs.

Jon Kraus is a DJ / Music Lover living in Manchester (England).

Growing up his 2 biggest influences were skateboards & older kids with big record collections, meaning a steady diet of Hip Hop, Reggae, Punk Rock and a variety of other outsider music, art & books which would have a significant effect on things to come.

From 2000 – 09 Jon was an integral part of Fat City Records, working in the shop, designing sleeves for Fat City Recordings (among other labels) and being resident DJ at their Friends & Family event (alongside Kwinzola since 2006).

Before that Jon was one of 4 strong team that created the Eyes Down club night (alongside fellow DJ Kelvin Brown). Connectionist has been rocking the dex since 2007. Starting off in Manchester this Greek bombshell has recently graced her native country ‘s capital – Athens as well as high profile raves all across the North of England.

One of the pioneering DJs of Dubstep, Chefal aka Chef, hails from the home of Dubstep, Croydon, South London, and has been mixing for 14 years.

He is a resident at the two pioneering Dubstep nights in London – DMZ and FWD – and other events such as Subloaded, Exodus, Renagade Hardware etc.

This year watch out for Chefal pushing some fresh producers including L.D, Mr P, Clue Kid n Cotti (4n4mat), Dcoy, Reptile, Point, 15’s, Aggro, Pinch, Conquest and Zomby. Chef had been show surfing on a lot of the best and worst pirates, south of the river for more than 7 years until he found his home at Rinse Fm early 2004. From the early secondary school days, Chefal was spending all his pocket and dinner money on the latest Jungle down at Big Apple on a Friday. He grew up listening to stations like Kool Fm, Weekend Rush, Rinse, Upfront, London Underground, while playing Mario and Streetfighter in his bedroom.

Sukh Knight is A grime, dubstep & Drum ‘n’ Bass producer from East London. After being introduced to grime music by Scratcha/DVA, he tried his hand at making grime music flavoured with Asian influences.

Night Owl is a DJ / producer / designer based in East London. Growing up near Brighton, he was immersed in the buzzing drum and bass scene, at nights such as Meltdown and Legends of The Dark Black.

Playing records from the young age of 14, he soon became a regular visitor to Fabriclive, Movement and Andy C’s infamous Ram parties in London.

Early influences included LTJ Bukem, Dillinja, Ed Rush & Optical, Bad Company and Andy C himself, and more recently artists such as Zomby, Redlight, Seiji and Benji B.

Today you’ll find him spinning a grimey blend of bass-heavy beats at many different tempos. Although he doesn’t like to be boxed in a genre, his sound is a cocktail of dubstep, funky, dancehall, bassline house and 2-step, that will make you get down.

Born in the Netherlands but of semi-Slovak / semi-Croatian nationality, Eddy spent his childhood alternating between the Netherlands, Slovakia, Libya and Germany before settling down in Zagreb, Croatia. Here his rich music background and incredible enthusiasm and passion to support good music saw him develop the music scene in the wider area making him one of the most important figures in central-eastern-southern European dance music scene.

Starting out as lovers of all things Jungle these boys now run Dubstep label R8 records in Sheffield as well as being responsible for some of the most respected nights in the city.

The Balkan Dub Defenders, Digitron sound was established 2007, by Jahstice Sound(igor+robi) and vVki(radikal dub kolektiv) the idea of making first self-build sound system and to play dub, steppers and roots selection on it.
2009 saw the launch of the Digitron Label showcasing the dub sound of the Balkans with the first release been from Radikal Dub Kolektiv.

As resident for Hit & Run and Soul;ution his “Deep” style of set has been instrumental in creating the warm vibes at the nights. Originally from London he moved to Manchester in 1999 and has run a host of different Drum and Bass events. Al has worked as a tour manager and
sound engineer for Sonic Boom Six, Technical Director for the Soundwave festival and is responsible for the huge stacks you see at Hit & Run.

Exodus aka Simon Scott as been a key figure in the Leeds music scene for over 20 years. His work as a promoter with such events as Subdub, Exodus and Outlook festival have gained UK and international status. Responsible for bringing dubstep artists to the north of England for the first time in 2005 in collaboration with London’s DMZ.
As a Dj musically he focuses on his sound system culture music that as evolved from Jamaica. His dj selection can vary the lastest dubstep dubplates, deep 70’s roots, killer 80’s digital dancehall and modern dub.

‘Daddy’ SHOCK is a Jungle Drum and Bass dj from Leeds know for his big sets and fantastic record collection.

Founder of ‘Frequency FM’ SHOCK is a Leeds institution and sure to bring a smile to every member of the crowd lucky enough to be there.

UK’s Blue Daisy was just another unsigned beatmaker, studying for his law exams and shopping tracks to DJs and label heads last year. He dropped a few in the inbox of Mary Anne Hobbs, who spun them on her influential Radio 1 Experimental program, where Ian Merchant, founder of the Black Acre imprint, heard the songs and immediately scooped up Blue Daisy to release his lurching debut single, “Space Ex”. Such lightning-paced development is more often than not a detriment– artists are pushed into the spotlight before they’re ready– but when the music’s this accomplished, everyone wins.

DJ FU is one of the few drum and bass DJ’s, if not the only drum and bass DJ, of recent times that has managed to be recognised purely for his talent on the decks. Having started his DJ career as a hip-hop DJ, FU gained recognition on Oxfords hip-hop circuit, playing mid-nineties and UK hip-hop. Not happy with the direction he felt hip-hop was taking, and often finding himself as a Friday night request DJ, FU turned to playing drum and bass. This was inspired by DJ’s like Marky and Andy C that he was seeing at local club night – Source.

Fu has also been recognised outside of drum and bass having been Rodney P’s tour DJ when Skitz has not been available. He has also worked in Barry Ashworth’s Dub Pistols as a scratch DJ further pushing Fu’s role as performer within live projects. Fu’s scratching has also featured on 1xtra award winning album – Now More Than Ever by Logistics (Hospital Records). He has worked with MCs such as Stamina MC, Deeizm, Harry Shotta, IC3, Eksman, Trip and Lowqui. Fu has also worked with beat boxers such as Beardy Man at the legendary Battle Jam.

As well as all this, Fu can be seen playing at nights like Marky and Friends, Ape, One Nation, and Random Concept; and has also played in world class venues such a Ministry of Sound and The End.

Ranking Records is another conception inspired by the thriving Leeds Dubstep scene.

Since their first release ‘Miserere’, this troup made up of Ruckspin, Planas and Quark  have been producing some of the deepest sounds out their and recognition is now following with Ruckspin receiving global acclaim for his production and DJ’ing skills. The label headed up by Harry Devenish (Evergreen) and Toby Davies (Landlord) has been consistently releasing for over 3 years now responsible for – Sunshine (Ruckspin), Gentleman’s Dub Club’s debut E.P – Memebers Only, Jah Rain (RSD), Oxygen (Ruckspin + Reso) and Depth Charge (Planas) to name a few.

Dancehall reggae soundsystem Firehouse was established May 13 2005 when the three Copenhagen based sounds Miraculix, President Sound and All Prophet merged into a single unit. 

The ambition was clear from the beginning: to be a leading sound on the Danish dancehall and reggae scene. Since then Firehouse has conquered almost every stage in Copenhagen mashing up venues with an energetic stage performance and massive, often very rare, tunes that can only be heard in a Firehouse session.

Firehouse brandishes a unique style of 80’s digital dancehall music and has made a name for itself by releasing internationally acclaimed mix tapes featuring the best tunes in digital reggae and rocksteady. 

Firehouse has played in every major city in Denmark (and a long line of minor ones too) as well as in foreign (Sweden). Firehouse has also thrown legendary reggae parties in Copenhagen which were attended by thousands of people hungry for bass and smoke. 

In 2006 Firehouse proved themselves a serious clashing sound in a glorious victory against the late Zulu Souljahs. In 2007 Firehouse came second in the Danish Soundclash Championship. In 2008 Firehouse defeated Million Vibes (S) in a 45 Shootout Soundclash. Scroll down for clash audio.

Firehouse is also successfully producing their own riddims and tunes. The Firehouse family comprises riddim builders  Maffi Promotions and gun poets Troels Egern & Ham de kalder Joe.

Commix is the lovechild of Cambridge duo Guy Brewer and George Levings, who have torn up dancefloors countrywide for the last 6 years with releases on Hospital Records as well as the mighty Metalheadz Recordings.

Commix have gained support from a plethora of top DJ’s including Fabio, Marky & Marcus Intalex for their wide-ranging style and eclectic live sets that display only a small portion of this duo’s diverse musical influences.

Maffi is a Copenhagen based riddim builder team. Since 2008 we’ve teamed up with  JAHTARI who’re running our internationally distributed record label  MAFFI out of Leipzig, Germany.

The production duo are made up of Mogadishu and Junior from Hummel City, Vesterbro.

Moog brings with him a dedication to keep the dancehall dark and spooky by playing everything in minor.
Moog is Maffi’s creative musical rebel. His main inspiration comes from dancehall, ethio, italo, SWOS, freestyle and Akon.

Junior is Maffi’s main drum programmer and sound engineer. He’s also a selector in the Danish sound system Firehouse and a dedicated collector of 80’s dancehall records. His aim is to keep the sound as digital, simple and conservative as possible. His big dream is to one day make a riddim as good as tempo

Maffi’s sound is classic 80’s digital dancehall. They focus on delivering music for the high powered sound system. Thick bass, cheap synths and no bullshit. Maffi have made about a hundred digital riddims so far spitting them out on a weekly basis.

So far Maffi have put out tunes with artists like  Solo Banton,   Soom T,  Mikey Murka and legendary  Hopeton Lindo. Nuff future releases are lined up

This year sees STEPPA and KITACHA play OUTLOOK for the first time and we are as you should be very excited to have them over.

DJ STEPPA has been living producing, playing at the forefront of the Drum and Bass scene for over 7 years now. In 2006 he won ‘Best Breakthrough Artist’ at the national Drum and Bass awards and has since been winning global crowds with his Jump-up DJ sets.

Having recently joined forces with Kitcha to form Northern Lights this production/DJ due are turning heads all over with their ‘Pure Energy’ style.

Reggae Heatwave have been smashing dances with their dancehall friendly rhythms. Straight out of south London these boys have a reputation for tickling the feet of every punter that steps into the room their playing to.

We are really excited to have them over to Croatia this year, expect them in the clubs/on the beaches on the boat parties.

OUTLOOK resident badman rapper MC GUSTO will once again be gracing our little gathering. An MC/HOST now of considerable note; Gusto is a regular at raves up and down the country as well as an array of radio shows having appeared on the likes of KOOL FM and FORCE.
Originally made famous at iconic club night ‘Central Beatz’ where he formed legendary double act ‘B2B NANG’ alongside his long time sparing partner MC JILA.

ANT TCI – head honcho at DISPATCH and the promoter responsible for Leeds Legendary club night – MOMENTUM come out to OUTLOOK for the first time this year. With a style based In liquid Drum and Bass TC1 has firmly put himself at the very top of his genre with global tours every year and adoring listeners in every continent.

Expect Bass-weight-beauty from this technically brilliant artist who never disappoints.

Dubkasm is a UK and Brazil-based roots reggae/dub outfit from Bristol,
England. Formed in 1994 during the emergence period of the UK ‘digital
dub’ sound, their debut release in 1996 was ‘Chemical Reaction Dub’ on
Nubian Records’ ‘Dub Out West’ compilation series (NRLP15).

Since then
they have released nine records on their own Sufferah’s Choice
Recordings label (named after DJ Stryda’s well-established Bristol
radio show) and received consistent radio and soundsystem play.
Digistep, currently living in Brazil, is also known as a session
saxophonist in the roots/dub scene, and as the Shanti-Ites band’s
hornsman.

Dubkasm have collaborated with UK producers including Aba
Shanti-I, Iration Steppas and Disciples, and artists such as Dub
Judah, Levi Roots and Ras Xylon (Lidj Inc.), always pushing a positive
message through quality roots and dub reggae productions. Their live
shows, fronted by veteran micman Afrikan Simba or Solo Banton combine
exclusive dubplates, live saxophone and improvised sound effects -
guaranteed to move any crowd.

O.B.F hail from France and consist of a DJ/Production duo who are also responsible for one of Europe’s most reputable events “DUBQUAKE” in Geneva.

It is out in Geneva O.B.F started to turn heads with their own trademark style whilst playing out alongside some of the scene’s biggest players; blending their own production with the vibes of other artists to leave a frenzied crowd begging for more O.B.F are ones to watch in 2010.

Winter of 2007, a select number of DJs from the then nascent evolution of British rave music, namely Marcus Nasty and Supa D, took a punt on some early production from a young South Londoner. The weeks that followed saw Roska’s inbox inundated with requests for the tune as word got around that his was the name behind the jacking, minimal riddim, ‘Feline’.

Instead of following a scene, he gathered up all of his favourite scenes and started a new one. Merging house, dubstep and Afro beats. – Mixmag

The scene which was first to embrace Roska, would be labelled funky and as energy gathered behind ‘Feline’ on the underground, Roska set out to release it on his own imprint, Kicks & Snares.

“It [Feline] was going down nicely so I pressed it up and called round the distributors but none of em wanted to take it. I put them in the boot of my car and went round the shops myself and even then I got a few knockbacks. Something must’ve clicked for them though cos 6 weeks later they were calling me up for it” – Roska

What “must’ve clicked” is that London was raving to a new energy, and at the precise moment the penny dropped for shops and press alike, Roska had now found his way into the record boxes of Geeneus, Kode 9 and Cooly G and as such was positioned at the forefront of the infant shoot of dance music.

As 2008 drew to a close, Roska began doing cover shows on Rinse FM and was offered residency in April 2009. This became a huge catalyst for Roska’s career as rather than the drip-drip of riddims to be found at dances and on blogsites, Roska would drench whole shows with his own production whetting the appetite of the listener and, as it’s radio, showcasing some production which may not have seen the light of DJ booth. Word spread around the campfire; Roska has riddims. Must have riddims. And he has em in mamouth supply

Hailing from France, Kanka are influenced by UK and Jamaican dub music.

His compositions are based on a strong bass & drums section. Though the reggae riddim often be heard, it sounds of today: tempos are particulary high for this kind of music, and the heavy bass line combines with a dynamic drum style and electro soundz. His first album “Don’t stop dub” was released on Hammerbass Records in March 2005. Acclaimed by all the actors of the international dub scene and played by respected sound systems, this album gave him the opportunity to make himself known to worldwide dub addicts. Like the first album, Kanka also plays all instruments on his new opus released in november 2006, by Hammerbass Records: “Alert”. Composed on 12 tracks, “Alert” is one of the heaviest albums released in the last years!!! Electro soundz and roots dub riddims are always combined with the purpose of efficiency.

After smashing it last year our first move was to invite Spectrasoul back again.

Having emerged from relative obscurity in 2006, SpectraSoul, have emerged as one of the new-school pioneers on the drum and bass circuit. 2008 saw the release of their much-anticipated underground anthem “Alibi”, which tore up dance-floors worldwide. Alongside this, 2008 also marked the release of SpectraSoul’s “Peninsula” and “The Tube”, both featured on Friction’s Shogun Audio imprint.

The duo show no signs of slowing in 2009, with scheduled releases for Goldie’s seminal Metalheadz Label, Teebee’s Subtitles, D-Bridge’s Exit Recordings, and, of course, further releases for Shogun audio and Critical Recordings.

dEbruit has recently relocated to London with Civil Music and the sonically flamboyant Frenchman has become synonymous with high-calibre, genre-defying synthetic music crowned with a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’.

As a producer, remixer and DJ, he successfully straddles hip-hop, dubstep, electro and beyond, His Music is a no holds barred assault through dark Congolese sound systems, downtown L.A. block parties gone wrong and haze filled Kingston recording studios and freaky Tunisian backstreet souks; all powered by a fat hip hop engine. Dan Man A.K.A. SUNNY VOICE is a veteran musician and singer  with over 20 years in the business. Born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, he migrated to the UK in 1967 at the tender age of 11. Iration Steppaz Sound System was the next adventure for Dan Man and this adventure has lead to the releasing of the artist’s first 10-inch vinyl, entitled Too Much War. Other releases Dan Man include “Jah Love” on Tempa, Evergreen & Landlord’s – Jah Rain on Ranking Records. Dan Man is working with Iration Steppas and together they have been touring Europe, performing in Countries including Italy, France, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary and Belgium. He also works closely with The Rootsman (Third eye music, Bradford, UK) and Abdul (Celtic Islam Production, Huddersfield UK). Since 2002, Dan Man have been working in partnership with dancehall artist Bongo Chilli and helped him to launch ‘Bongo Chilli records’ in 2005. He works jointly with Bongo Chilli, facilitating a number of music workshops in schools and at community based projects around the UK. Dan Man is also one of the front man for Underground Roots sound system.

One of Drum & Bass’ freshest young producers, Alix Perez is set to blow this year. With an impressive CV boasting residencies at legendary nights Swerve & Movement as well as releases on Shogun Audio, Liquid V, Bassbin and Creative Source already, its pretty obvious Drum & Bass comes naturally to Belgian Alix. Djing since the tender age of 14, he has already collaborated with Jenna G and SpectraSoul amongst other high-profile artists and will no doubt blow the socks off us at this year’s festival.

Gentleman’s Dub Club is a nine-piece band that formed in Leeds in early 2006. With a style based in dub, ska and roots reggae, GDC have burst onto the UK circuit, rocking gigs and festivals up and down the country with their super high energy show.

Combining tight grooves and a heavyweight sound, Gentleman’s Dub Club bring the party to crowds of all ages hungry for a dance floor workout, with their gigs often ending in a frenzied mosh pit reminiscent of a mid 80’s ska night. Live effects and mixing make for a crystal clear sound, and the band’s larger than life stage presence makes for a mesmerising experience.

Wachs Lyrical has been Djing and Producing Dubstep for the past 3 years, based mainly in Leeds and London, and playing at Vagabonds, Some Night, The Bash Out to name a few.

He is tipped by many to be the next big thing in Dubstep for 2010, with support from the likes of N-Type, Kissy Sell Out, MRK1, Gothtrad, Phaeleh, Riskotheque and Suspect.

Wachs Lyrical has 3 releases under his belt, on Subdepth, Dubsaw and Double Drop which have been getting played out by some of the biggest names in the scene, and on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Rinse.fm, Sub.fm, and Dubstep.fm

His forthcoming releases are on BRAP DEM, ran by Sam Supa, the owner of Surefire Artist Agency, which boasts the most impressive Dubstep roster in North America, Para-Noir Records, Holding Pattern, Hellfire Audio and Barish Records.

He’ll be coming to OUTLOOK off the back of a U.S tour in the summer, managed by Sam Supa from Surefire and sponsored by BRAP DEM that will cover everywhere from East to West coasts.

Wachs Lyrical’s Dj sets are unique in Dubstep for the reason that they vary so much depending on the crowd. Expect anything from massive tear out and jump up to deep, melodic and techy vibes. His music collection is backed up with a solid foundation of unreleased dubs from many up and coming producers. For example, Phaeleh, Koan Sound, Central Spillz and MENSAH, as well as some big names such as Riskotheque, Von D, James Blake, Babylon System, Matt-U and DZ.

Soom T is the Glaswegian wonder known to many for her eclectic vocal stylings 
and mass collaborations having shared a studio and over 40 record releases 
since 1999 with the likes of The Orb, T.Raumschmiere, King Creosote, Miss Kittin,
The Bug, Mungos Hifi, Bus, Maffi, Asian Dub Foundation and many other style defining artists, securing Soom T’s position as an innovator of originally developed 
musical disciplines.

Having spent the last 10 years releasing and recording, Soom T’s character has 
become infamous within the industry as a buoyant, comedic and somewhat eccentric
one with an exceptional vocal talent, definitive style, quirky yet highly 
distinctive voice. 

Her current projects include recordings with Scottish Reggae sound system masters,
Mungos Hifi, Gypsy Rock 8 Piece Conkers, a collaborative folk music album for
Bluebells Ken McCluskey’s Root 8 Label, Prodigy-esqe co-produced project No Step
with ex-Senser producer and production partner Hagos who Soom T owns and runs
the label No Step Productions.

On recording several tracks with Disrupt and fellow label mates Maffi, Soom T 
discovered a production vibe undoubtedly suited to her progressive vocal output 
and vowed to dedicate to the new found sound known simply as Digital Laptop 
Reggae. With a bundle of European shows with Disrupt and several riotous crowd 
churning sets having left a firm imprint on European audiences, the Jahtari and 
Soom T marriage looks set to become a union of legendary proportions.Centre at the the  infamous  Subdub and Exodus events.

Born out of boredom by 2 brothers over 30 years ago, Channel One have been making waves wherever they go ever since.

Jah T and Mikey Dread initially toured the system with a band of local youths around school dances and youth clubs before taking the plunge by playing out around London in the early 80’s.

Their first big set came at Notting Hill Carnival which cemented their place as an established system renowned countrywide for their family orientated approach to the dance.

Gloucester based Dread MC is fast making a name for himself in both drum & bass and dubstep circles, regularly working alongside DJ Die, Skream, Benga, Redlight, Pinch and Kutz at their own request, as well as frequent sets at the UK’s top club nights including Fabric, Detonate, Bedlam and Run. More recently Dread has put his lyrical talents on wax, working across tempos with the likes of Distance, Redlight, Headhunter, Jaydan and Gatekeeper.

Literally smashing his way onto the scene in 2001, Break has established himself as a somewhat prodigal talent with his debut album ‘Symmetry’ making serious waves within the scene. Moving forward, Break achieved collaborations with a number of established producers and is certain to rattle chests with massive dubs and flawless mixing out in Croatia, dont miss this one.

The Bush Chemists came about early 1993 as a result of an offshoot project to CENTRY and have since released several albums including Dub Outernational, Money Run Tings and Dubs From Zion Valley before releasing singles on Concious Sounds.

Part of the UK Roots and Dub scene, Bush Chemists tend to work from operator Dougie Wardrop’s home studio aiming to spread the Reggae vibe far & wide through their own seamless blend of modern and authentic ragga vibes.

As one of the biggest drum and bass artists today we had to invite musically inspired DJ/Producer D-BRIDGE. Though his career stretches back to the early 90s, it was in his role as one quarter of the irrepressible drum & bass super-group Bad Company in the late 90s and early 00s that he really stamped his mark on the scene, dominating the sound of drum & bass during that period. Tunes like ‘The Nine’, ‘Planet Dust’ and ‘Nitrous’ are unforgettable classics and are the tip of the iceberg of an incredible back catalogue of work from the foursome.

Since they disbanded, D-Bridge has carved a superb reputation as a solo artist, with a more refined sound that is no less effective in the clubs, with tunes like ‘True Romance’, ‘Odessa’ and ‘Twilight’ leaving a lasting impression on the scene. His label Exit Records is renowned for quality over quantity, with all releases carrying a touch of class.

He’s a highly sought after DJ, and his widespread appeal is best demonstrated by the fact that he regularly appears at nearly every one of our wide range of drum & bass nights, from the tough beats of Renegade Hardware to the soulful vibes of Swerve, via Ram Records rave-up and Shogun Audio’s slightly more left of centre throw-down.
