Hatcha
We can’t quite give the title of ‘Founder of Dubstep’ to anyone but if Hatcha wasn’t at least respected as one of the most influential guys in the scene’s formation I’m sure he’d have something to say about it.
One of the original Croydon lads at the heart of Big Apple, FWD and Rinse, it was he that mixed the first Dubstep Allstars compilation and to this day makes the claim that it was he who coined the term ‘dubstep’.
But we can go on about his involvement 10 years ago but by no means has Hatcha stopped there. He was the first to play only Dubstep on commercial radio and has held down a weekly show with Crazy D on Kiss FM for a few years now.
Hatcha is also the man responsible, alongside his long term mate N-type, for setting up Sin City Records. A night and label that have brought releases from Chef, Benga, Lost, Coki and N-type, to name a few.
